Hippowash delivers Elite system to landfill site

Hippowash recently delivered its first wheel washing system to a busy landfill site in Saarland, Germany. The Hippowash Elite, our flagship system, was first seen by Terrag D&E GmbH at SteinExpo in 2008 alongside established German, Swiss and Austrian suppliers. Whilst awaiting planning consent, senior representatives from the German disposal specialists visited a number of existing Hippowash systems in operation in the UK before making their final decision. They needed to prevent dirt and debris tracking onto the nearby highway and impacting on the neighbouring community.

The ground on site comprises fine clay-type particles, so the Hippowash Elite was the perfect solution due to its dual functions: the high pressure, targeted spray removes the material that collects in tyre treads and the SiltEater separates out and removes the dirt particles from the water, ensuring each vehicle is washed with clean, recycled water.

The landfill site serves the community as well as being a commercial venture. 50% of the incoming waste comes from industrial waste contracts and the other 50% from the community.

Several visits to the site in Germany were undertaken by Hippowash in order to deliver the same high standard of on-site consultation as UK customers enjoy. During this time a true sense of co-operation was developed. A requirement of the contract was, however, to have a German service partner on board to undertake maintenance and servicing. Consequently, Hippowash evaluated numerous companies in the area who may fit the bill and finally made an agreement with a national weighbridge supplier.

Chris McCumesky, Managing Director of Hippowash said “It has been a pleasure working with our German clients and we are delighted that they are so pleased with the end result. Developing business in Europe is an exciting phase in our development, particularly in light of the sluggishness of the UK market over the last 2 years.”
