Quarry Project - Lincolnshire
Another Hippowash solution
Bullimore Sand and Gravel purchased a Hippowash® Classic 6 metre above ground wheel wash unit incorporating the Hippowash waste water clarifier for their Collyweston Quarry in Lincolnshire.
The deal was agreed on the Hippowash stand at the Hillhead exhibition in Buxton between Nick Bullimore, Director of Bullimore and Chris McCumesky Managing Director of Hippowash. The system chosen by Bullimore is the same specification as the working demonstration on view at the show.
The full Hippowash Classic solution was chosen over 5 alternative systems which were researched for this project. The new system will replace the existing wheel wash unit that has been in operation for a number of years.
The Collyweston site is expecting in the region of 200 vehicle movements through the new wash per day, comprising both quarry and landfill traffic. As the site exit is close to a busy A-road, Bullimore considered it highly important to choose an effective system that will prevent road contamination.
Nick Bullimore said, "We liked the system with the waste water clarifier option as it seemed effective and low maintenance at the same time. It makes a lot more sense to us than having to worry about emptying out lagoons."
Bullimore's is a family-run company in operation for approximately 100 years. For the last 25 years limestone has been quarried at Collyweston and latterly, inert waste land-filled on site.
